Network Cabling Technicians Are In Demand!
US News and World Report named the Computer Network Cabling Professional as one of the best jobs for the future.
According to the National Electrical Contractors Association (NECA) and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) experienced telecommunication technicians/installers are earning upwards of $50,000 in annual compensation. They further state they will need to recruit and train an additional 50,000 telecommunications technicians/installers over the next 10 years.
Per a report from National Systems Contractor's Association (NSCA), the communications industry employed 630,000 people in the US that earned $6.3 billion in wages and benefits 1998. The report further states that industry employment increased 54% since 1995. Growth is expected to be 45,000 technicians per year through 2002.
Mr. Steve Hill of the Communications Workers of America stated during a conference in the fall of 1999 there were 16,000 job openings for fiber optic cabling technicians.
